Hi, I’m Clare! I am a cognitive neuroscientist interested in the processes that contribute to language processing.

I am currently working with Professor Carolyn McGettigan and the VoCo Lab at UCL as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. My current research investigates the social neuroscience of voices, as part of a project funded by the Leverhulme Trust. This work will conclude at the end of 2022.

Prior to joining UCL, I completed my PhD at Royal Holloway University of London, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. I used behavioural experiments and fMRI to investigate the cognitive processes that underpin skilled reading with my supervisor, Professor Kathy Rastle.

In my spare time, I enjoy working on projects that incorporate science policy and data science. I have summarised evidence on a broad range of social science issues (including online extremism and social consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic) for UK Parliament. I also enjoy solving problems with data-driven solutions, and have experience in programming languages Python and R. Please get in touch if you are interested in working on a project together!
